釜山の旅行!

スタワルスとても見たいでしたから、ビータル船で釜山2日旅行しました。

It goes about 80km/hr and takes about 3 hours to get to Pusan from here. I took the ungodly early boat... 8:30. (which meant getting up at 6...)

A few minutes after we left the dock in Japan, and a few seconds before I zonking out for 90% of the trip. I snapped a picture out the opposite window. You can see the Tower on the right, i see this view from the back side (and much further away) every time i go out the front door of my apartment.

Here's a shot of the subway in Pusan. It a lot like a japanese commuter train. nothing spectacular, but clean and functional. with the wise advise of those local english language websites i found, i got the Pusan version of the octopus card, so riding the subway was only an RFID swipe away...

Skipping ahead a bit. Here's the view from my hotel room in the Nampodong area of town. Actually this /would/ be the view from my window if the window opened more than 4 inches. i had to stick the camera out the window to get this shot. ;-)

Where would a blog be without at least one humorous english sign? Sounds like a delicious place to stop and eat. at least they've got their ass covered in case you happen to see a cockroach? they warned you!

A random shot i took on the street. No those aren't dead bodies stacked up on that cart, it was some vendors unloading some mannequins. lots of street vendors all over the place around this part of town. Most of what they were selling was pretty cheap too, t-shirts for less than $10, lots of random cell phone stuff, hats, etc.

Tons of video arcades around... as well as internet cafes (PC rooms). in this case.... featuring DDR!

Speaking of things James likes... here's the local adidas store.

ooh, spicy korean food from street vendors, can you say indigestion disaster?

Speaking of digestion... I found out that Korea has a lot of US chain restaurants, food brands and stores that you can't find in Japan (at least not where I live). Including Pizza hut! You're looking at the first Mountain Dew to touch my lips since November 2004...

Pizza hut turned out to be crazy expensive though. In a country where meals are very affordable. I spent ~$15 on a small pizza and a drink. hypothetically its a two person meal, but still, I ate almost all of it. :-P

But such is my thirst for good pizza.

Speaking of brands... this clothing store carried tons of Simpsons clothes. apparently licensed. it wasn't cheap, and i didn't particularly like the styles or pastel colors (no desire to advertise 'im a huge gay bart simpson fan who is living in the 80s...') so I didn't get anything.

Speaking of girls in skimpy clothes and riding around in the back of a truck...

Hey old man, take a picture, it'll last longer!

These two were the first of several groups of the Korean equivalent of 'campaign girls' you see a lot in Japan doing promos for various stores, etc. In this case by truck... More pictures of that type of stuff, and my actual visit to the touristy stuff, in my NEXT entry...
