Fwd: Mini Paceman launch

Last night I had the opportunity to go to the launch of the latest offering from Mini, the Paceman. It's a two door coupe 'crossover' available with AWD.  

The event was out in Tsuen Wan, luckily Rex was able to drive us out directly because it started pouring rain right when we got there. 

Car launches are always fun because they plan multiple things to see and do besides the car unveiling itself. In this case they had an Xbox Kinect and foosball in addition to the free drinks and hors d'oeuvres (and some extremely cute promo models...)  RX did a beatboxing show before the big unveiling. 

The car itself looks pretty cool. I've been a Mini fan since the original 1969 "Italian Job" film, and that includes the new Minis as well. 

They said this is the 7th model put out by Mini (MINI Hardtop, MINI Coupe, MINI Convertible, MINI Roadster, MINI Clubman, MINI Countryman and the MINI Paceman). 

All are unmistakably related to the Mini Cooper. I wonder how many more variations they can come up with?

Vung Tau 1

We are leaving Vietnam tonight. We decided to do a short bus excursion to a seaside resort called Vung Tau about an hour from the port.

Their claim to fame is a 30m tall Jesus statue. Like the one in Brazil except not quite that nice a view. :-P

Although its pretty hot and humid and there's a steep staircase, the sea breeze made it bearable.

I even took the narrow stairs inside the statue up to the shoulders. (The last picture is a 180 panorama from the top)

Halong Bay 2

It seems like my emailing in blog entries didn't work well last time. It only showed the first half of the Halong Bay pics. Here's the rest from the trip -

Hai Long Bay

Did our excursion today at Hailong Bay, near Hanoi. They have nice limestone rock formations off shore. We did an all day boat trip around them. I took better pics with my regular camera but here's the ones off my mobile phone.

My Home for the next two weeks

I will probably not be updating much for the next few weeks,  I'm going to be cruising around SE Asia on this giant cruise ship.... just me and 2000 retirees... can't wait to hit the open seas! :-P

If nothing I expect to catch up on my reading and get a lot of poker practice in in the casino...
