some pictures from my first day in San Francisco. I flew from Washington early in the morning and rented a car. I drove over to Berkeley for a meeting with my old research group:

Here are the giant dedication seals. For those who don't know, the main library is actually buried underground here.

The big news was that I picked up a copy of my diploma! (it takes 6 months for our university to prepare the printed copy for you to pick up, so I couldn't get it before I left).

Look who's signature is on there! Since my university is a public university, and Arnold Schwartzenegger is the govenor of our state, he signs our diplomas!

At night I went with Eric and Joe and the wives to watch 'War of the Worlds'.
